Building construction currently consumes
approximately 40 percent of the world’s resources.
As architects, we have a professional and social responsibility
to the natural environment and local eco-systems around
us.
Aonui Architecture aspires to be a leader in the field
of environmentally sustainable design in New Zealand. We
work with an awareness and a commitment to act responsibly
in design choices whilst recognising that there are often
conflicting pressures of time, cost, and quality.
Our office, in the Solarhome, Wadestown, is a working project,
which offers us the opportunity to test and apply emerging
innovation technologies.
The principles underpinning all our work include the following
fundamental objectives:
- minimise the energy needed to operate a building
- use locally sourced and low technology solutions, where
possible
- consider the life cycle impacts of building systems
- produce healthy and comfortable spaces.
