Bluebridge Ferry Terminal

The Bluebridge Ferry Terminal provided passenger services for Strait Shipping's new Cook Strait service. Built by CentrePort, the terminal site was constrained by vehicle access to operating wharves each side and a height plane restriction preserving harbour views from the Beehive. Appropriate in a working wharf environment, the aesthetic was functional and industrial. Internally, it was the first commercial building in Wellington to use Aonui-designed temperature and CO2-controlled automatically opening windows to avoid traditional mechanical air conditioning.
